Sports Development Officer - Temporary – 3 year post - Robin Park Arena

Wigan Sports Development Unit is seeking a highly motivated Sports Development Professionals to join its dynamic and progressive team of 4 managers, 6 officers and 13 coaches.

This role will make an important contribution to supporting the Wigan & Leisure Culture Trust vision of ‘Getting Wigan Active’ and improving lives and thereby increasing sport and physical activity across the Borough.

This Officer will focus on the adult participation, and in particular focus on people who used to participate in sport and physical activity but have since become sedentary. The ‘Back to Sport’ initiative is a brand new and exciting project and will see an expansion of Wigan Sports Development as a service for adults. The project will endeavour to raise awareness of health and promote opportunities for men and women aged 16-60 years to return to participation in sport and physical activity.
The Officer, supported by a Community Sports Coach, will be required to work in partnership with internal and external agencies such as the Voluntary Sector and National Governing Bodies to deliver this programme.

You will have:
• Considerable experience in sports development or a related field, managing and delivering a wide variety of sports projects.
• Degree/equivalent qualification/National Governing Body Qualifications are desirable
• Ability to, work within a team, develop new initiatives, set performance indicators and monitor goals and targets.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills.
• Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
